It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the Craiceann Bodhrán Summerschool for 2020.
Craiceann has taken place every year from 2001, and this would have been its 20th anniversary. Just like many events big and small, the worldwide Covid 19 pandemic has dictated that we must take this action. The next Craiceann will be June 21st thro’ June 25th 2021 and we hope that as many as possible will be able to attend.
We want to sincerely apologise to all our old and new friends that we will not have the opportunity to meet for a wonderful bodhrán week, but cancellation was the only decision that we could take.
As the organising team we have responsibilities to a range of individuals and groups, and we must think about our students, our tutors, our bands, and our hosts in the island community. We have a duty of care and a responsibility to protect the interests and especially the health of all these people. With this foremost in our minds, this year’s Craiceann could not take place.
For those of you who wish to attend Craiceann 2021 your deposits and fees can be carried forward and you will be guaranteed a place on the course. Please let us know within ten days if you wish to avail of this option. All other deposits and fees will be returned.
In conclusion, can we again say how sorry we are to have to take the decision to cancel Craiceann 2020, but in the spirit of friendship, responsibility, and care for one another this was the only and correct course of action.
From Mícheál, David, Rolf and Gary we want to say that we will miss you all this year and we wish you and all your loved ones safety and health until we meet up again.
If you have already booked your accomodation for Craiceann 2020, please contact your hosts to let them know you are not coming. Thanks!
