The next Craiceann Summerschool will take place from Monday 22nd of June through Friday 26th of June 2020!

This is what has happened in 2019:

After his introduction in 2018 we are glad to announce Andy Kruspe as a full time teacher for 2019.

So our tutorial team for 2019 includes Siobhán O’Donnell, Aimee Farrell-Courtney, Cormac Byrne, Jim Higgins, Colm Phelan, Robbie Walsh, Andy Kruspe and Rolf Wagels. We are very hopeful that the great Donal Lunny will continue to play a part in Craiceann 2019. To read more about the teachers, follow this link.

After a great success in previous years, we continue the new teaching module called “The Craiceann Masterclass”. This is in addition to our normal range of seven classes from Beginner to Advanced. It is being introduced in response to suggestions from our tutors that there is now a need for a professional level teaching experience targeted at that small number of people who are currently playing and performing at the very highest level. Participation in the Masterclass is by invitation only. All details can be found at “The Classes” page.

Once again this year the great Donál Lunny will join us at Craiceann.
Donal Lunny needs no introduction: He is an icon in the Irish Traditional Music world over the last thirty years. As a performer, producer, and mentor, he has had a huge influence on the music itself and on those who play and just listen to this powerful part of our Irish culture and heritage. He has been a member of many landmark bands such as Planxty, The Bothy Band, Moving Hearts, and more recently Mozaik. Under his guidance, all of these bands have led significant shifts in style and content, but through all this progress Dónal has remained anchored to the bedrock of our music’s tradition.

We will have two great concerts: The Conifers and Troda. Both are two particularly talented young bands that we feel will showcase all that is vibrant and exciting in our music.

The three workshops/lectures which take place during the day between classes will be given by Mícheál O’hÁlmháin himself, Cormac Byrne, who will talk about his work and collaborations and world class bodhranmaker Christian Hedwitschak, who will talk about drum tuning.
